In today’s online environment it’s important to know what risks lie ahead at each click. This paper will describe so of t&#104&#101&#32malicious kinds of attacks<s></s> your Home/Office PC may&#32&#101&#110counter online. Now I’m sure we have all heard of Viruses online&#32&#97&#110d some of you have heard of Trojans.

But there ar&#101&#32&#109ore than just these few pieces of software out the&#114&#101&#32waiting for you. The internet is

a bastion of all &#107&#105&#110d<s></s>s of malicious software or “MalWare”. Some examples are Spyware,

Scanners/Bot&#115&#44&#32Trojans, Viruses/Worms, and many other types of Ma&#108&#87&#97re that exploits your PC.

Now let’s take a closer look at some o&#102&#32&#116he above mentioned MalWare. “Spyware” What is it and

how do I find out if my P&#67&#32&#104as it? Well this type of MalWare is basically any &#115&#111&#102tware that

records your online actively without yo&#117&#114&#32knowledge and then reports to back to another part&#121&#46
&#10
Now Spyware is hard to find because a lot of progr&#97&#109&#115 act like Spyware. But the best thing to do

is get&#32&#83&#112yware removal software. Some fine examples of Spyw&#97&#114&#101 removal software are Spybot

Search and Destroy 1.&#51&#32&#97nother good program is Adware SE.

Is Your PC Safe?
&#10
&#78&#111w let’s look at “Scanners/Bots”. Scanners/Bots are programs that try to find victims via

por&#116&#47&#73P scanning. The best way to prevent from getting i&#110&#102&#101cted by this kind of MalWare is to

install a Firew&#97&#108&#108. There are many kinds of firewalls and some are s&#111&#102&#116ware based and others are

Hardware. You can buy a &#104&#97&#114dware firewall for around $50.00 USD or you can do&#119&#110&#108oad a

s<s></s>oftware Firewall. Some examples of software&#32&#102&#105rewalls are Zone Alarm another one is Tiny

Persona&#108&#32&#70irewall. Tiny Personal Firewall & Zone Alarm basic are free for ho&#109&#101&#32use.

Do you Trust them?

“Trojans” Trojans can be the worse of MalWare. Trojans&#32&#97&#114e sometimes confused with viruses

but Trojans are “Program that &#110&#101&#105ther replicates or copies itself, but does damage &#111&#114&#32compromises

the security of the computer” This is just one of ma&#110&#121&#32definitions of a Trojan. A lot of Tr<s></s>ojans

have Key&#32&#108&#111ggers built into them and can record all keys you &#112&#114&#101ss and them report them back to

a hacker. This is &#98&#97&#100 because they will be able to use the key logger t&#111&#32&#102ind out your passwords,

Credit card numbers, and o&#116&#104&#101r sensitive informational about you. The best defi&#97&#110&#99e against

Trojans is antivirus software but Most A&#110&#116&#105virus software won’t find all variants of Trojans so

again a fir&#101&#119&#97ll is needed.

Worms are not good!

“Virus/Worms” Are malicious programs that re&#112&#108&#105cates itself and may cause damage to a

computer sy&#115&#116&#101m by attacking or attaching itself to boot informa&#116&#105&#111n, another program or a

document that uses macros.&#32&#84&#104e best defiance against this kind of MalWare is to&#32&#105&#110stall Antivirus

Software. Now that we have reviewe&#100&#32&#115ome of the threats you face online lets go over ou&#114&#32&#98est

defiance. Now just as a heads up there is no 1&#48&#48&#37 way to protect you PC from online attacks

because&#32&#110&#101w Viruses, Trojans, and other MalWare are made dai&#108&#121&#46 But you should be pretty safe

in you have the fol&#108&#111&#119ing installed on your computer. Online must have s&#111&#102&#116ware: Antivirus

Software, Spyware Software, and So&#109&#101&#32kind of Firewall.

With these steps in place<s></s> you sh&#111&#117&#108d be

a lot safer then the average user and always &#110&#101&#118er open an e-mail or file attachment from

someone &#121&#111&#117 don’t know. I hope this paper has help and be safe online.
